Daniel Auon is an authentic American craftsman, who has spent 22 years perfecting his craft. He began Auon Works out of his passion for high quality woodworking, a passion inspired by the pieces of Gustav Stickley and Sam Maloof, among others.

Daniel's admiration for the beauty of hand made items has grown as he has witnessed the abundance of factory made furnishings flood the market. His goal is to create handmade pieces that reflect the best of a highly skilled artisan. Daniel views himself as both a skilled craftsman striving for precision in his work and as an artist seeking to create beauty.

Indeed, he brings an artist's sensitivities to each item he crafts. His pursuit of perfection has led him to create his own stains and shellacs to achieve hues that are best suited to enhance both the wood and his designs.

Daniel describes one of his tasks as revealing the beauty that is deep in the wood and he seeks to bring that to life in each piece. In this sense he is not creating the beauty as much as exposing the hidden beauty within the wood he personally selects for his work.
